Cub Scouts Food Drive
Cub Scouts spread out through Sandpoint, Idaho and other Inland NW communities putting Food Bank donation bags on door handles on Saturday, November 1, 2008. On Saturday, November 8, 2008; they went by car, bike, and foot to collect the bags that citizens filled with food and secured on their door handles or steps. Christine and I were with Cub Scouts from our Den which is part of Pack 120 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Everyone met at Rainbow Realty in Sandpoint, Idaho and spread out around town. People were friendly and returned the smiles on the faces of the Cub Scouts.
Our Pack 120 met up at the Bonner County Food Bank and we placed all the food donated in a huge basket and it weighed nearly 600 pounds! Thank God there are parents that take time to encourage their kids to participate in such a wonderful organization that instills community service in its young people. Most of the scout are young elementary school age boys and they take their relationship in scouting with them to shared elementary schools, sunday school classes, and sports leagues. It promotes yet another meaningful connection that they will share throughout their school years here in Sandpoint, Idaho.
I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can, whenever they can to the Bonner County Food Bank in Sandpoint, Idaho. The need increases in the holiday season but exists year round. Donations to the Food Bank or Coats for Kids or Toys for Tots can be dropped off at Rainbow Realty all year round. If you need us to pick up then call us at 208-263-3124.
