Let’s Virtually Spend the Night Together - For a Great Cause!
JOIN THE TEAM! “VIRTUAL REALITY” and let’s make some history while we raise funds for the American Cancer Society that will go to work right here in Sandpoint, Idaho. I am reaching out to those of you that have left Sandpoint but can remember when we were there together at the Sandpoint Bulldog Football games, football bbqs, Meet the Bulldogs, SHS tailgate parties, endless hours with Coach making the bulldog highlight reels, Cheer Squad fund raisers at the Community Hall, Band dances, Elementary School dances, street dances, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and so much more that we shared here in Sandpoint. Now I need some help from you to a great cause on June 12th. We can do something really special and we can do it if we all work TOGETHER!
Some of you cheerleaders remember that I setup the entire sound system in the street, on top of the black van, because the field was wet. We did it to play 90 seconds of music at halftime because it might be the senior cheer squad members LAST time to cheer on the home field. Isao and some of you remember we took the entire sound system and lights to the Milk Bowl in Idaho Falls. A lot of you remember the free elementary, middle, and high school dances we did so your school, club, or organization could raise money. A lot of us had fun at Junior Miss programs, making talent tapes and cds, Lost in the 50’s street dances, Fairground dances, Long Bridge Swims, and so much more. I even deejayed a few of your weddings. Many of you helped organize, setup, and participated. Now with your help we can connect from anywhere in the world with a HOMETOWN fundraiser by doing something really special. I am going to name names in this blog - the people I am reaching out to that I want to be part of the core of this team.
You have left home and Sandpoint, Idaho as you have gone off to college, earned degrees, some married, some have children now, and many are working in large cities at exciting jobs. I am reaching out to you to participate in a hometown fundraiser from right where you are today. To connect to Sandpoint and people that you know or remember with love.
Follow the directions to join our team below. The Cancer Relay for Life will begin at 6:00 pm on Friday June 12th and ends 18 hours later at noon on Saturday June 13th, 2009. Relay for Life teams will be camping inside the main exhibit hall and outside at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Team members will take turns walking in circles on the indoor track while I deejay and other entertainers perform. OUR TEAM is VIRTUAL. It’s called “Virtual Reality”. I will have a computer hooked up to a BIG SCREEN and when it is your hour or 2 hours to “walk” you will go to my Twitter site and post encouraging comments that the “live” walkers will read as they circle the track and pass by the large screen. If Yolanda and Miko from the East Coast sign up and participate and Rebekah and others from the West Coast sign up and participate; we can be the only team in America that is COAST TO COAST during the Relay for Life.
1. Go to the team website: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/virtualreality and make your own page (takes a couple minutes). 2. Ask 10 people for FIVE bucks. 3. Ask 4 other people to do number 1 and number 2. 4. Sometime during the 18 hour Relay for Life commit to walking “virtually” for an hour or two. 5. During the time you are scheduled to virtually walk - go on to my Twitter site and TWEET encouraging comments. Easy! You can do all that ask from your computer keyboard. All of it. In less time than it takes to post pictures, name your five favorite candy bars, have a food fight, or play
mafia wars - YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
You will help raise funds to provide services and support for Cancer Survivors right here in Sandpoint. If you have questions email me at DYoung6962@aol.com or post to my Facebook page and make some history. There are many virtual teams but our team will be virtually walking the event via TWITTER and the TWEET screen. I will Emcee the event for 18 hours so when you are there - I will be there too.
Rebekah R., Jennifer M., Emily S., Nic at Nite, Yolanda P., Miko, Brenda and Carl K., Monica and Steve R., the Outlaw Josie Wales Crawford (who dumped me live on KPND-FM for Alex Crossingham when she was 12 and broke my heart) could join and take an hour, Saramaya and Lisa and Casey could organize our famous cheer squad members; Taylor, Ashley, and Kara could sign up their friends after they join the team; Isao knows how to reach lots of the football players, Devon, Leigh, Erin, Claire and Sammi Jo could recruit Monica A., Kristina B., Lea B., Nina O., Callie F., Sophie & Gracie M., Danae R., Allison S., Fawn Y., Joey L., Bryson K., and Janae R. Kimberly could virtually walk (TWEET) with Miko. Libby S. is not always riding her bike off the long bridge in the lake; Sandi, Wendy, Valerie, Brooke, Dani, Leah and Barb all have friends to share this night with in Sandpoint. I promise it will make a difference - that YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Big Hug,
Bashful Dan

Cancer Relay for Life will be held in Sandpoint, Idaho from 6:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2009 until noon on Saturday, June 13, 2009. This 18 hour event is done annually at the Bonner County Fairgrounds to raise money for the American Cancer Society to provide services and support to Cancer Suvivors here in Sandpoint, Idaho. Please consider joining the team or making a five dollar donation to our team site at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/virtualreality If you are not going to be in Sandpoint then our virtual team is the perfect way to stay connected. If you are here and not on a team then you might consider going to a late movie, meal, and then drop by the fairgrounds and walk the number of laps that is equal to the years you have been married and healthy or the number of laps that adds up to the ages of your children combined. Just walk, hold hands, and be thankful for your health and your children’s health. It is a great way to lend support to the event and the people participating and it will not cost you a cent. Just some time. Time to be mindful of what each of us has and not what we are lacking. I guarantee you that you will see people you know and maybe just make some new friends. Thanks for thinking about it.
