Rocks on the Scotch Please

“We believe that the 88,000 acre Scotchman Peaks roadless area, spanning the Idaho-Montana border, deserves permanent protection as wilderness. Faced with growth and change, we want to make sure this special place stays the same.” That is the MISSION STATEMENT for the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness,

Inc. (FSPW).

I am so excited about the 3rd Anniversary Commemorative Issue of Peak Experience, the newsletter for Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. I have copies of this collectors item in my office at Rainbow Realty in Sandpoint, Idaho on the downtown corner of 3rd Avenue and Pine Street. I hope you will visit the web site and if you can try to run into people like Bob Hays, Phil Hough, Jack Nisbet, Victoria Denham or any of the many fans and friends of this natural eye-candy dished up by Mother Nature.

The hike up is a breathtaking, wide screen, helicopter view and on a good day you can see two weeks in every direction. In the newsletter Phil Hough encourages you to join in when you see events and activities publicized, join a hike, watch their slide show (or bring it to your club, organization, or neighborhood block party), walk in a parade, join a picnic, wear a t-shirt, pick up a poster, display a bumper sticker, and well, just basically add your voice to this choir of angels that strive to protect and preserve an irreplaceable asset that is a gift from God.
